About
The Tallus Android CX7000ES application provides control over a DVD / CD Changer through an Android phone or device.
This is a stand alone application that has direct UPnP network connection to Sony's CX7000ES 400 disc blu-ray changer.
NOTE: the images displayed on this page are actually for the taChanger Application, but pretty similar.
Requirements
- Android device with the OS 1.5 or newer.
- Sony's new [BDP-CX7000ES] BluRay changer with at least the December 2009 firmware upgrade (Network mode enabled in its configuration).
Installation
Most current version is always here: Direct download for Android web connected devices
Since this application will not be available on The Market, at least initially, you might need to follow instructions like these: Installing a non-Market app
Alternatively, there seem to be a bunch of Android applications like AppsInstaller which makes it even easier...
Configuration
Since this application automatically connects to a SONY CX7000ES changer through UPnP, there is no configuration screen as such. Though you do need to set the Changer itself in "Network" mode instead of the default "Serial/rs2323" and your router should not have the UPnP capability disabled.
On a successful connection, the Changer page will display some information about the Changer to which it is connected. The important information is also duplicated on the main screen. Once the support for multiple Changers is enabled, this is where you would select a particular one, through a drop down menu.
Pressing the Synchronize option (from the MENU) will wipe the database and fill it. As it cycles through all the discs, which takes about 45 seconds per disc, this is a relatively long process which should not be needed after the initial synchronization.
The displayed metadata are limited to what is made available through SONY's API, namely: Title, Genre, Disc type and Disc Number.
Navigation
- The hardware Menu button will bring up the "Options menu" from the Main screen. This is where you access the Remote control and more.
- The hardware Back button will bring you to the previous screen, or kill the application if pressed from the Main screen.
- The hardware Home button will bring you to your device's Home screen, while keeping the taCX7000ES application running in the background and receiving data.
- On the Main screen, shortcuts are available by tapping the Changer's name, disc number's or Status.
- On the List screen, performing a "long press" will bring a context menu where you can Load/Play/View details of the selected disc.
